spellbound...

The world outside of our modest mansion is preoccupied with preparations for Christmas.  Here at home there are signs of Christmas here and there but not today, not at this moment.

When I walked out the door searching for the cat dudes a few afternoons ago I noticed a bird seated on a branch in the most relaxed manner.

I was familiar with this...there are moments each day when the noise of the outside world just disappears.  Perhaps the magnetic fields are shifting, could it be that the earth's rotation slows down and back to normal again... but I recognize those moments and expect to find some cats around.  I don't expect to just find any cat around except those who are in tune with the vibrations of molecules in the air and the movement of waves in the earth.  The ones who examine the angle of sun's rays and sniff its temperature to see if it is just right.  Well, it was one of those moments.

I did not have to look far before I saw the stretched out arms of Mr Puffy Pants, his eyes focused

on this squirrel who knew well that he did not have to worry about a single thing at that instant in time.

And not far away was this precious dude, Mr Sweet Pants trying to memorize a prayer that he had been practicing!!!

I heard him say:

"O Lord of the Kingdom!
Though our bodies be gathered here together, yet our spellbound hearts are carried away by Thy love, and yet we are transported by the rays of Thy resplendent face.
Weak though we be we await the revelations of Thy might and power. Poor though we be, with neither good nor means, still take we riches from the treasures of Thy Kingdom.
Drops though we be, still do we draw from Thy ocean deeps.  Motes though we be, still do we gleam in the glory of Thy splendid Sun."
(Bahai Prayer)

Three or four years ago I would have been astonished at this but not today and not at that moment.  I also knew that the moment would not last very long.  Within seconds of my appearance the orange dude with short attention span woke up

and wanted to play.

Cat boys sent you pawfuls of kisses.  Relax, they said and enjoy the bounties of the season.

Ciao everyone!

  4. Those fleeting moments, when the animals commune with nature, unafraid and relaxed. Like us, when the time is right, they can be one with the world. Those unhurried times don't come as often as I like. But, I'm sure glad your fellas, the bird and the squirrel find refuge in your courtyard. Love!
