Friday of Independence or Dependence?

It is an early Friday morning, 5:15 a.m. Cat boys who could not wait to get out are not leaving as they usually do. They go out and literally fly back into the house. Three times I try to walk them out, and nope. So out they go on the patio.

Sorry for the fuzzy picture but without coffee, at this hour of the morning,I can neither see well nor operate an automatic camera. I have to mention too that we were awakened at some odd hour after midnight by a security company that guard's a friend's house, and apparently the said company had received indications of a possible intruder into their home. Luckily, they did not call back, and I assume that means no break-ins, whew!
I start thinking about Friday and its divine attribute of independence, and find it amusing that the cat boys who are naturally very independent have this morning become very dependent.
I decide to get out and follow them around to see what's up.

Doodle cats stand on the sidewalk together ready to start our morning excursion. Hmmm, they are paired up, not so usually!

As we go down the street I look at the sky and admire this beautiful July 10th sky...

I notice the paired squirrels, and think, co-dependent? Is someone giving me a message?

I am not surprised now to see doodle Mcpoodles by the unkept house looking at doves like this, paired and not alone.

Naturally, when we cross the street, we are going to sit on this front entrance like this:

I decided to review this passage with them (we had read this earlier)

"O My servants! Could ye apprehend with what wonders of My munificence and bounty I have willed to entrust your souls, ye would, of a truth, rid yourselves of attachment to all created things, and would gain a true knowledge of your own selves—a knowledge which is the same as the comprehension of Mine own Being. Ye would find yourselves independent of all else but Me, and would perceive, with your inner and outer eye, and as manifest as the revelation of My effulgent Name, the seas of My loving-kindness and bounty moving within you... "(Gleanings)

and within moments, Ollie starts scaling the bottlebrush tree. Curious, I think to myself.

If you look closely, he is way on the top of the tree. Is he trying to be independent?

Here's one independent Ollie, aka Gingeralla, on top of the bottlebrush tree.

Here Ollie is listening to me asking him to come down because I don't think the top branches can withstand his weight. He is calculating how to come down, genius cat!

This is little Ollie's butt view as he trusts himself to mummy...and mummy takes a butt shot of Ollie!

Whew! I am not sure if it was a good idea to review that passage standing next to a tree. Nonetheless, it is a spiritual quality, this state of independence, and it is truly divine. This morning gives me plenty to think about, my dependence, my independence and what it all means...maybe I need to scale a tree.

Wishing all a joyous Friday clothed with the divine attribute of independence,

Ciao!
