Randomness prevailed but we were still very pleased...

Freshly planted
Lazy Housewife Beans, ipod photo from a couple of weeks ago!

These beans and few other as yet unplanted seeds are lovely gifts from a most lovely and observant MichaelaDawn who obviously knows all too well who the Lazy Housewife is...
Thanks Dearest Michaela with all my heart : )

A fleeting moment when Augustus looked at me approvingly, and said that it was ok to photograph him...
Back in the cement garden noting the speedy and miraculous beans awakened and unfolding...
A cart picked off for free a month or so ago...cat boys approved, Sylvester did not object, Mommie cat who is still unsure about all this rusticity is letting it be for a while....
And finally this doodle (Ollie) is too hard to photograph somedays, especially after a visit to the vet... but here you have it, all 16 lovely pounds of him! We kissed him a lot after his vet visit...

Augustus selected this passage for reading after examining the lazy bean seedlings...

"All beings, whether large or small, were created perfect and complete from the first, but their perfections appear in them by degrees. ... Each seed has in it from the first all the vegetable perfections. For example, in the seed all the vegetable perfections exist from the beginning, but not visibly; afterward little by little they appear. So it is first the shoot which appears from the seed, then the branches, leaves, blossoms and fruits; but from the beginning of its existence all these things are in the seed, potentially, though not apparently...
Similarly, the terrestrial globe from the beginning was created with all its elements, substances, minerals, atoms and organisms; but these only appeared by degrees: first the mineral, then the plant, afterward the animal, and finally man. But from the first these kinds and species existed, but were undeveloped in the terrestrial globe, and then appeared only gradually....When you consider this universal system, you see that there is not one of the beings which at its coming into existence has reached the limit of perfection. No, they gradually grow and develop, and then attain the degree of perfection..."

  2. Never has a wall looked so sweet!!

I have to leave your blog in haste, lest my mere gaze cause catastrophic damage to your little sprouts - I know I have a brown thumb, but for all I know, my brown eyes wield the same power (I envy you your greenery).

  3. lovely to see you up and down town, and I believe that your brown-eyed gaze will only encourage the beans to grow...i.e., if certain orange cats don't sit on them
