We reflected on this reading:
"Absolute repose does not exist in nature. All things either make progress or lose ground. Everything moves forward or backward, nothing is without motion. … movement is essential to all existence. All material things progress to a certain point, then begin to decline. This is the law which governs the whole physical creation.
Now let us consider the soul. ...with the human soul, there is no decline. Its only movement is towards perfection; growth and progress alone constitute the motion of the soul.
Divine perfection is infinite, therefore the progress of the soul is also infinite. From the very birth of a human being the soul progresses, the intellect grows and knowledge increases. When the body dies the soul lives on.
…In the world of spirit there is no retrogression. The world of mortality is a world of contradictions, of opposites; motion being compulsory everything must either go forward or retreat. In the realm of spirit there is no retreat possible, all movement is bound to be towards a perfect state. 'Progress' is the expression of spirit in the world of matter. The intelligence of man, his reasoning powers, his knowledge, his scientific achievements, all these being manifestations of the spirit, partake of the inevitable law of spiritual progress and are, therefore, of necessity, immortal." (Paris Talks)
Augustus and Ollie seem to be enjoying the passage.
Ciao everyone!
I just want to tell you that I enjoy your blog about your cats immensely! Even if I don´t write a comment, I visit it daily.
ReplyDeletePlease stroke both boys for me: )
dear mette, what a sweet comment...I am the same way, sometimes I am too busy, and other times I don't feel like commenting...the cat boys love attention xo
ReplyDeleteIt looks like your cat boys are witnessing some divine light.
ReplyDeleteOver the weekend we broke down and let Gray Kitty go out. Brownie gets to go out every day and now that it is Spring he is in heaven. Meanwhile Gray would just look at us forlornly as if to say "why don't I have a life?"
So we let him go out Sat morning. That evening he came back in to eat and sleep. Victory! So we let him out again Sun morning but Sun night he didn't come in. He did come in this morning though, to chow down a bit, but wanted to go right back out.
It's touch and go, whether we can get him to learn a new pattern.
Kisses!
is :) an acceptable comment?
ReplyDelete:)))))))))
Susan- I felt for you instantly...Ollie has become quite a handful, a big handful and prefers to work outdoors all day long. Augustus has been quite the gentleman cat. What don't we do for these furry dudes?!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteNancy- : ) says more than any word could...let's do symbolism once in a while xoxo
Stretch seems to be pondering and intent on imagining his soul in perfect stillness. I think this one may have gone over Goldilocks head so he decided to give up and nap.
