Our world for the moment...

Some mornings I get up with a meow call, usually at 5:30, if not 5:00, and I go straight outdoors, just as any cat would do. This morning I did just that. The air was that cool temperature that is just right and smells right too. The city sounds were still not loud. We could only hear birds. Usually I look up and I see a fat bird taunting Ollie and Augustus, just like this one.
Today when I looked up I also saw MrPuffyPants,
and down below was MrSweetPants, Augustus

I thought to myself that I like this, an aerial cat. He is Wondercat and I only wish that he would wear a cape.
MrSweetPants who knew the bird was out of reach rolled in his catnip and was trying to relax.
He looked so cute that MrPuffyPants had to rush down to tickle him.
Look at him come!
He is fast like a chubby cheetah without spots.
"Here I am!", said Ollie.

We assumed the posture of wonder as we read and pondered:

"Every blade of grass has its Angel that bends over it and whispers, "Grow, grow."- the Talmud

"Nobody sees a flower- really- it is so small it takes time- we haven't time- and to see takes time, like to have a friend takes time. If you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it's your world for the moment." - Georgia O'Keefe

The boys subsequently made pawfuls of kisses of the best kind and blew them in the air wishing that their lovely friends would all get one or two until their next visit.

Ciao everyone!

Custodians of the forces of love...

Every occasion with the cat boys is a rarified occasion, in my view of course. Here we were one cool, breezy, sunny, gentle afternoon last week where I took them to the back yard for treats.
As I watched "Smily", our very own MrPuffyPants,
and Augustus, also known as "MrSweetPants" in some circles,
I started thinking of how much love they spread around...Aahh, these babes
have to be the Custodians of the Forces of Love.
MrSweetPants prefers others to not know that he is SweetPants,
but he is. Just see for yourselves!
MrPuffyPants is busy and has no opinions on this matter.
We gathered, read and stared.

"The greatest gift of man is universal love - that magnet which renders existence eternal. It attracts realities and diffuses life with infinite joy. If this love penetrate the heart of man, all the forces of the universe will be realized in him, for it is a divine power which transports him to a divine station and he will make no progress until he is illumined thereby. Strive to increase the love-power of reality, to make your hearts greater centers of attraction and to create new ideals and relationships..." {Divine Philosophy}

Cat boys made pawfuls of kisses and blew them in the breeze. You may have received a few not knowing about it.

Why do I get the giggles

every time I see this dude run towards me? Is it because of his determined pace, his resoluteness, or is it that he plump cute? I usually pick him up and kiss him on his little pink lips.
Of course I do the same Augustus, no doubt.
They take turns standing by me, I suppose it means that they are my owners for that time.

Yesterday afternoon was like this. The clouds burnt away in the afternoon left behind just the kind of weather that us cats like.
Ollie wanted to know if there was something that I needed to discuss with him. He is still offering his consulting services.
His only customer, the squirrel, does not trust him and so he drapes himself far away on a branch.
Augustus only watches from behind. He often wonders about his brother with a heart filled with love.

He is always there ready to defend him.

On a different note, we were discussing excellence and perfection. I wondered if the boys knew what those attributes of perfection were. They read from heart:

"Other attributes of perfection are to fear God, to love God by loving His servants, to exercise mildness and forbearance and calm, to be sincere, amenable, clement and compassionate; to have resolution and courage, trustworthiness and energy, to strive and struggle, to be generous, loyal, without malice, to have zeal and a sense of honor, to be high-minded and magnanimous, and to have regard for the rights of others." Secret of Divine Civilization

Next time I won't ask. Cat boys readily made kisses and blew them in the air. I am sure there was one in there for each and every one of you.

Ciao!

Augustus and Ollie in May 2011

Augustus likes to enjoy the gentle warming rays of sun on his slanky body from time to time, it helps him meditate better but he is forced to keep his eyes open in case of sneak attacks.

Ollie has to take advantage of every opportunity to plot an attack on his brother. He cannot help it, it is a genetic condition we have decided. I look at him and say, "Hey Mister! Watch it!"

And so he gave me the "I have no idea what you are talking about" look.

Augustus relaxed but still kept one ear on the alert.

I asked the boys if we could read a rather long passage because at times when my mind is on too many things, it is only the reading of a long passage that helps me to focus. The cat boys immediately agreed and so Ollie selected our reading by pointing his paw over to the book, Dawn Over Mount Hira, again.

We read.

"Man desires a complex and obscure solution to existence; he would rather go bare-foot, subsist entirely on carrots or listen to the voice of his departed uncle issuing at midnight from an aluminium horn, than prefer his neighbour to himself, or confine his business activities to honest ones. Moreover his conduct is not unreasonable, for a peculiarity of the universe is that it may, logically, be made to fit any theory whatever; Schopenhauer, disappointed in love, had little difficulty in blaming the female sex for the French Revolution; while some of our modern scientists could with equal justice attribute the disturbance to a pandemic dysfunctioning of endocrine glands.
Such are human attempts at directing existence. They are by definition imperfect, for obviously a finite mind cannot hope to settle the infinite business of living, any more than unconscious natural phenomena could organize themselves into a disciplined whole...
In the whole range of human experience there is no fellow human being, however great, who can claim us unreservedly; we invariably find, after reading his book or watching him live, that he suffers as we do from human inadequacy; and so it is that Flaubert warns us not to touch our idols, because their gilt comes off on our fingers; and Emerson grows indignant when we exalt another human being and seek our truth from him, because our ideas are easily as valuable as his, we too are subject to 'gleams from within,' we find in every work of genius our own rejected thought.
We all, then, have our gleams from within, even though they are often but the vague phosphorescent lights which skim over graveyards after dark. But if we would see, we must stand in the full beating force of the Sun of Reality, which alone gives truth to the known and the power of knowing to the knower."

Though long, the cat boys really enjoyed the reading, it helped them regain their composure. Then they stood together, filled their paws with many kisses, and blew them in the air for their lovely friends.

Ciao everyone!

Curious Interest...

Sometimes I just watch the cat boys and just love them in my heart, no words uttered loudly. The other day I was admiring these lads as they were pursuing their interests quite naturally.

Augustus
quietly walked the wall to find a good vista.
In no time he found himself backed by his ginger brother, Ollie.

They watched, chatted, consulted, worked on a plan perhaps,
or maybe Augustus just sent him off to get him a glass of water?!

Down below, a little later that day, Gus and Ols asked for a reading and so we read this:
"Originality is one of the thousand refreshing outcomes of the independent investigation of Truth, for the simple reason that if we look at anything, we look at it in a way peculiar to ourself. We have to. We will all see the same Reality, but at different angles. A change from the past, when originality has been so rare as to be a matter of comment, and we have praised people as 'original thinkers.' And with so many such thinkers in circulation, the impetus to all the graces of civilization is self-evident. Besides which, when each of us has to discover life for himself, each will be as exultant as Columbus when his first redskin glittered through the shrubbery."
Dawn Over Mount Hira

Content, they ran about their business but not before sending many kisses in the air for their friends. Seeing that wall I found myself humming to this, which really has nothing to do with anything.

We wish all a lovely weekend...Ciao!

Free Cat Advice

I would be telling the truth if I stated that I feel immensely lucky to have two cats with differing opinions for consultation. So for example yesterday I told them that I was so tired, that I have a busy semester and all. They both agreed that I better tighten that belt and plough through; however, each had a suggestion.

Augustus suggested some neck exercises.

while Ollie suggested that I practice balance daintily if possible.

Frankly I think they both have good ideas. Then together we read this:

"...Say: No man can attain his true station except through his justice. No power can exist except through unity. No welfare and no well-being can be attained except through consultation."

Then Ollie suggested that he would sit in the courtyard for one hour each day and give advice to whosoever showed up.

The cat dudes made pawfuls of kisses and released them in the air for your mid week enjoyment!

Momenst with Cat Boys...

Last week, and in fact most days, Augustus gives me love bites, sometimes accompanied by foofs.
Ollie enjoys watching the attacks and is proud of his courageous brother.
Ollie knows what to do when he spots his scratching post walk by,
a good long stretch. Please check those claws!
Augustus likes to study nature but to do so he sometimes has to lay on his side.
Here he is studying a big insect.

Ollie runs to and fro a lot,
which results in tired paws! Those are some dirty little pink paws!
Augustus also gets tired paws, which he rests on his sheepskin.

Early this morning we decided to start the week on the right foot, so we went out, read this:
"...eveyone must consider at the end of each day what have been his actions. If he finds something which would please God, he must thank Him and pray to be strengthened to do this good act throughout his life; but if his actions have not been approvable or honest, he must earnestly ask God for strength to do better."
Star of the West, V9(8), p 96

and then the cat boys made kisses for everyone and blew them in the air.
Wishing you a great week with sunshine and smiles,

Ciao!
