Bubba Guss, the master gardener, and his assistant in puffy pants

One day last week, maybe even two weeks ago, I witnessed the cat boys gardening. Sure, I am always surprised when I make such discoveries but I don't let them know. From all appearances, Gussy was the master gardener, and Ollie, Mr Puffy Pants, was doing all the work.

Gussy instructed Ollie to dig a hole so he could plants some azaleas.
Here's Ollie making a hole in the tough root bound soil.
"Success at last!", he said but he was not sure what the purpose of the hole was. He used it as his outdoor litter box.
Gussy noting that gave him a look and a grunt.
Little Puffy Pants was next sent to fetch some water and water he found but he was not sure how to carry it.
Gussy noted the problem and decided that perhaps they should go back and play a little bit.
So that is exactly what they did, they played the peek-a-boo game for a bit.

Well, all this fun and excitement was great but no two semi-cultured cats would call it a day without reading.
I hastily selected a reading that dealt with flowers and garden so as to praise their intentions and efforts. We read this:

And when you pass by a garden wherein vegetable beds and plants, flowers and fragrant herbs are all combined so as to form a harmonious whole, this is an evidence that this plantation and this rose garden have been cultivated and arranged by the care of a perfect gardener, while when you see a garden in disorder, lacking arrangement and confused, this indicates that it has been deprived of the care of a skillful gardener, nay, rather, it is nothing but a mass of weeds. It has therefore been made evident that fellowship and harmony are indicative of the training by the real Educator, while separation and dispersion prove wildness and deprivation of Divine training.

Should any one object that, since the communities and nations and races and peoples of the world have different formalities, customs, tastes, temperaments, morals, varied thoughts, minds and opinions, it is therefore impossible for ideal unity to be made manifest and complete union among men to be realized, we say that differences are of two kinds: One leads to destruction, and that is like the difference between warring peoples and competing nations who destroy one another, uproot each other's families, do away with rest and comfort and engage in bloodshed and rapacity. That is blameworthy. But the other difference consists in variation. This is perfection itself and the cause of the appearance of Divine bounty. Consider the flowers of the rose garden. Although they are of different kinds, various colors and diverse forms and appearances, yet as they drink from one water, are swayed by one breeze and grow by the warmth and light of one sun, this variation and this difference cause each to enhance the beauty and splendor of the others. The differences in manners, in customs, in habits, in thoughts, opinions and in temperaments is the cause of the adornment of the world of mankind. This is praiseworthy. Likewise this difference and this variation, like the difference and variation of the parts and members of the human body, are the cause of the appearance of beauty and perfection. As these different parts and members are under the control of the dominant spirit, and the spirit permeates all the organs and members, and rules all the arteries and veins, this difference and this variation strengthen love and harmony and this multiplicity is the greatest aid to unity.
Ollie really enjoyed this reading as you can tell from his smile.

The cat boys then readily filled their paws with kisses and blew them in the air wishing that each and everyone would be caught by one gorgeous individual.

Wishing all a great Wednesday...Ciao!

Roaming the savannah...

that is what we did one early morning last week. We quietly walked down the street when it was still dark, we went to the fenced lot, I opened the gate just enough for ginger to squeeze through and Gustopher followed...they roamed the savannah (our savannah is an abandoned lot where a home used to stand before it burned down mysteriously).

When I told Ollie that it was time to leave he knew that it was time to leave. We headed back up the street to our own savannah, perhaps more orderly, and certainly more private.

Ollie camouflaged himself in the tall grass, he did so skillfully by hopping in the middle of the pile from afar.
"Nobody can see me!", that is what he was thinking, I know.
Gustopher played along, "I cannot see a huge orange cat in sight", he meowed.
Ollie was so proud.
While trying to remain camouflaged Ollie became distracted with the fresh blades of grass.
Gussy sat up high on the wall for a better vantage point.

We played our pretend games, sometimes we have to. I told them about William Sears who really did live in the Savannah, or pretty close to it. We later watched this, one of his old time children's shows that happens to be very suited for cats too, and we finally ended our daily get together by reading and reflecting on one of his public addresses.

"Let us no longer remain a society of nuclear giants and spiritual midgets. Let us be at last children of God and not of men." Public Address, Bill Sears, London 1963
The cat boys were thrilled and naturally moved to fill their paws with kisses, which they dispersed in the air.

That day, as today, we wished and wish everyone a lovely day. May a cat kiss land on your face.

Ciao!

What follows...

When I see this scene

I am generally pretty sure that the sequence was triggered by a fluffy orange tail, no need to name any names.

And when I see this confrontative arrangement

I guess that earlier some meows were exchanged

that may have preceded or led to this:

However, always, they try to kiss and make up, which explains this tight hug!

Later on indoors and before this happens

we read this

"O banished and faithful friend! Quench the thirst of heedlessness with the sanctified waters of My grace, and chase the gloom of remoteness through the morning-light of My Divine presence. Suffer not the habitation wherein dwelleth My undying love for thee to be destroyed through the tyranny of covetous desires, and overcloud not the beauty of the heavenly Youth with the dust of self and passion. Clothe thyself with the essence of righteousness, and let thine heart be afraid of none except God. Obstruct not the luminous spring of thy soul with the thorns and brambles of vain and inordinate affections, and impede not the flow of the living waters that stream from the fountain of thine heart. Set all thy hope in God, and cleave tenaciously to His unfailing mercy. Who else but Him can enrich the destitute, and deliver the fallen from his abasement?

O My servants! Were ye to discover the hidden, the shoreless oceans of My incorruptible wealth, ye would, of a certainty, esteem as nothing the world, nay, the entire creation..."

while Gustopher smilingly reflects
and
then he does this.

I know at some point out there they made kisses in haste to send your way. Hope you caught some because they are rare on these very busy days!

Ciao!

All this rain...

Cat boys wanted to know what all this rain was good for so I showed them this flower.

Augustus' expression tells me that he is unsure, purple flower or wet fur, that is the question?

Ollie is pretty sure that wet fur is not acceptable, his luxurious mane does not like extremes of weather conditions- too wet is bad and too dry is staticky!

The two conversed over a good fresh graze

and I sensed that I was going to be in trouble when I saw them talking privately
so I quickly pulled out my book of readings and started reading this to them:

"Consider! When the rain, the heat, the sun and the gentle zephyrs cooperate with each other, what beautiful gardens are produced! How the various kinds of hyacinths, flowers, trees and plants associate with each other and are conducive to the adornment and charm of one another! Hence the oneness of the bounty of the sun, the oneness of rain and the oneness of the breeze have so overcome all other considerations, that the variety of hues, fragrances and tastes have increased the adornment, the attraction and sweetness of the whole. In a similar manner, when the divine Collective Center and the outpouring of the Sun of Reality and the breaths of the Holy Spirit are brought together, the variety of races and the differences existing between countries will become the cause of the embellishment, decoration and elegance of the world of humanity..."

The strategy was successful. The boys listened, meowed, then made kisses and blew them in the air for you. Wishing you the weekend that you would like to have!

Ciao everyone!

Under this shy and gentle March sun of ours

we were shooting the breeze, singing, sniffing, and eating grass! I could not love Mr Puffy Pants or Bubba Guss anymore than I already do.
Here they are following me around, I like for them to sit still so I can snap a nice picture but no, that won't work.
"Here I am," says Augustus. "What next?"

Curiosity finally moved the ginger puff.
Now he is giving me the 'I-am-ignoring-you' look. I know your games, I told Ollie, I know your games little man.
Feeling the craziness in the world, the boys decided to read and reflect upon this:

O ye lovers of this wronged one! Cleanse ye your eyes, so that ye behold no man as different from yourselves. See ye no strangers; rather see all men as friends, for love and unity come hard when ye fix your gaze on otherness. And in this new and wondrous age, the Holy Writings say that we must be at one with every people; that we must see neither harshness nor injustice, neither malevolence, nor hostility, nor hate, but rather turn our eyes toward the heaven of ancient glory. For each of the creatures is a sign of God, and it was by the grace of the Lord and His power that each did step into the world; therefore they are not strangers, but in the family; not aliens, but friends, and to be treated as such. (Selections AB)

Hmmm! So tough! We agreed that this was a rather tough exhortation but we decided to think about it every now and then.

Later we all hummed to this, remembering him.

Boys then filled their paws with kisses and blew them in the air for you. Catch them because they are delicious and quite rare.

Ciao everyone!
