Smell my toes...

I am not sure what they were saying that morning but
it would be safe to say that Striples (Gussy) asked Gingerella (Ollie) to smell his toes- first this one,
and then the other one.
He then reported his findings back to Striples,at which time Striples asked him
to also smell his neck.
Mysterious cats!

Cat boys were studying Zoroastrianism that morning....

I pledge myself to the well-thought thought.
I pledge myself to the well-spoken word.
I pledge myself to the well-performed act.
(Zarathustra)

I then understood that their mysterious behavior was just the well-thought thought, the well-spoken word, and the well-performed act...they were just practicing.

Cat boys wish you a lovely week with many purrs and kisses.

Ciao!

And they heard music...

This morning I was thinking of the Sunshine Award bestowed on me by the loveliest Alaskan friend.  Cat boys know her all too well...they remember the salmon.

It was hard to think of 10 things about me when in front of me two soft cat boys danced to their own music...little steps and movements,
little grooming and glancing,
a little of this
and a little of that.
Augustus, Mr Sweet Pants, was admiring
Gingerella's Puffy Pants!

So here are 10 things in random order of significance to myself:

1. my favorite place would be near an ocean or sea with the big cat, Sylvester, and the two Misters
2. my favorite color would have to be blue
3. my first pet was a german shepherd mix, loved him
4.  I was most allergic to cats until I fell in love with them
5.  I love the smell and sound of dry cat food
6. my favorite comfort food is black tea and dry water crackers, a little jam would go well of course
7.  I love humor...clean, clever, quirky
8.  I am social but get tired of people easily
9.  I don't like using I and here am using I all the time
10.  I love independence

Thank you pencilfox for giving us your Sunshine.

Catboys were reflecting on this while I was talking about myself:

People say that what we’re all seeking is a meaning to life. I don’t think that is what we’re really seeking. I think that what we’re seeking is… the rapture of being alive. (Joseph Campbell)

They sent you all heartfelt weekend wishes, cat kisses, and music...

Ciao everyone!

Two Cat Brothers on July 25th...

Ollie was overcome with assorted emotions only known to cats...
 Gussy ran to help.
Later the two sat down for reflections the way they always do...with their backs and ears pointed to my direction.

“Every soul is fashioned after the nature of God, each being pure and holy at birth...”
(Abdul Baha- Persian Spiritual Leader)

I had to smile very big smiles when I was watching these two precious ones and thinking about that quote...."each being pure and holy at birth" and later becoming naughty thespians!

Cat boys send you July 25th wishes...enjoy this honorable day with cat kisses!

Ciao everyone!

July Days....

as the morning takes over the shift....
one Mr Sweet Pants walks the narrow wall,
and one Mr Puffy Pants keeps an eye on the courtyard.

Some of the secret joys of living are not found by rushing from point A to point B, but by inventing some imaginary letters along the way. (Douglas Pagels)

The cat boys take me to imaginary places each day, they are really the same places to you and me but not to them, they live in a world where only the unexpected occur.

Happy Tuesday 23rd to all with cat kisses and imaginary places in store...

Ciao everyone!

Middle of July

is really a good time for just about anything.

The white roses in the complex bloom and re-bloom.
Last weekend, one Mr Sweet Pants was enjoying the rare serenity that lingered in our complex.
The silence was interrupted only by the chirping of birds who were singing in the distant skies.
When I looked at him with love he bashfully closed his eyes.
On the other side of the rose patch, Gingerella or Mr Puffy Pants was pretending to be in a boat, I know, because he has been craving anchovies lately.
He too enjoyed the singing of the birds although at that instant he was hoping to hear the flipping about of gold fish.  He was remembering last year when he'd eaten the neighbors gold fish, which we had to resupply, naturally.
When I looked straight into his eyes, he gave me this look which I could not interpret.
Middle of July truly can truly be good all by itself.  Plants and trees are in full bloom where we are, there are farmer's markets all over selling the ripest and most lovely fruits and vegetables, and the ocean is nearby probably smelling of salt mist.  No layers of clothing, all open windows and open doors.  There is so much we love about summers...perhaps it is really the openness, that our living room becomes an extension of the outside, that our hearts want to leap out and play.

That same weekend I went to a talk by a renowned architect who spoke of Beauty, of that ineffable beauty that transcends senses, that beauty that is of divine and within each one of us. So, I decided to share this quote with the cat boys only because it addressed the reader as "O Son of Beauty".

O SON OF BEAUTY!By My spirit and by My favor! By My mercy and by My beauty! All that I have revealed unto thee with the tongue of power, and have written for thee with the pen of might, hath been in accordance with thy capacity and understanding, not with My state and the melody of My voice. (The Hidden Words)

Cat boys wished you a beautiful middle of July.  They sent pawfuls of kisses.

Ciao everyone!

the gifts of the day...

On that first day of July whose story hadn't been told yet, the palm tree stood tall and fresh looking in the humble backyard.
I examined the criss crosses of the leaves and was trying to make out patterns in my head.
Mr Puffy Pants had found a pigeon and was practicing hunting poses,
silently extending his furry body looking delicately ferocious, only from the back.
When Mr Sweet Pants came by to join the hunting game and wedged himself delicately between the wall and the cement squares I did not detect even an an iota of ferociousness. I did not let him know of this and only applauded him.
Ollie was back within short moments after he scared off the pigeon,
and then the two felt that it was time to go someplace else.
Up above I noticed a little itty bitty hummingbird,
and, then shortly after, the pigeon and the hummingbird.
This game could start over again.

Some days one must just be...no elaborate plans, no bright ideas, no nothing...only being in the company of lovely ones.

“Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold. But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow.”

Cat boys sent you pawfuls of kisses....

Ciao everyone!
