Guarding the treasures?

Ollie, the Magnificent, guarding his treasures...now you know why he is so fluffy!

And, Augustus, the Most Precious, guarding the door!

And last night we reviewed the following...

"Thine eye is My trust, suffer not the dust of vain desires to becloud its luster. Thine ear is a sign of My bounty, let not the tumult of unseemly motives turn it away from My Word that encompasseth all creation. Thine heart is My treasury, allow not the treacherous hand of self to rob thee of the pearls which I have treasured therein. Thine hand is a symbol of My loving-kindness, hinder it not from holding fast unto My guarded and hidden Tablets.... Unasked, I have showered upon thee My grace. Unpetitioned, I have fulfilled thy wish. In spite of thy undeserving, I have singled thee out for My richest, My incalculable favors...." (Gleanings)

May cat kisses and abundant treasures be yours this Tuesday!

A weekend of cat bliss...

means 'open house'. The doors were left open and the boys ran in and out, in and out, in and out, to their hearts' content, which explains why by Sunday evening they were tired. Naps here and naps there. However, intelligent cats that they are, they did not miss on their readings and asked mommy to choose a passage.

Here's what we read, The boys loved it and hope you do too.

Man is the supreme Talisman. Lack of a proper education hath, however, deprived him of that which he doth inherently possess. Through a word proceeding out of the mouth of God he was called into being; by one word more he was guided to recognize the Source of his education; by yet another word his station and destiny were safeguarded. The Great Being saith: Regard man as a mine rich in gems of inestimable value. Education can, alone, cause it to reveal its treasures, and enable mankind to benefit therefrom. If any man were to meditate on that which the Scriptures, sent down from the heaven of God's holy Will, have revealed, he would readily recognize that their purpose is that all men shall be regarded as one soul, so that the seal bearing the words "The Kingdom shall be God's" may be stamped on every heart, and the light of Divine bounty, of grace, and mercy may envelop all mankind. The one true God, exalted be His glory, hath wished nothing for Himself. The allegiance of mankind profiteth Him not, neither doth its perversity harm Him. The Bird of the Realm of Utterance voiceth continually this call: "All things have I willed for thee, and thee, too, for thine own sake." If the learned and worldly-wise men of this age were to allow mankind to inhale the fragrance of fellowship and love, every understanding heart would apprehend the meaning of true liberty, and discover the secret of undisturbed peace and absolute composure. Were the earth to attain this station and be illumined with its light it could then be truly said of it: "Thou shall see in it no hollows or rising hills."(Gleanings of Baha'u'llah)

PS. the cat boys know that the term 'man' in the above passage includes them as well because after all they are two years old now. How precious is that?

Wishing all a Peaceful Monday and may cat kisses...

Let's bungle this Friday...

Ollie bird, aka Mr Puffy Pants
and Augustus, aka Gussy Gus
ready to bungle
in the jungle

Finished bungling!

No readings this Friday, only singing...

Let's bungle in the jungle

Walking through forests of palm tree apartments ---
Scoff at the monkeys who live in their dark tents
Down by the waterhole --- drunk every friday ---
Eating their nuts --- saving their raisins for sunday.
Lions and tigers who wait in the shadows ---
Theyre fast but theyre lazy, and sleep in green meadows.
Lets bungle in the jungle --- well, thats all right by me.
Im a tiger when I want love,
But Im a snake if we disagree.

Just say a word and the boys will be right there:
With claws at your back to send a chill through the night air.
Is it so frightening to have me at your shoulder?
Thunder and lightning couldnt be bolder.
Ill write on your tombstone, ``i thank you for dinner.
This game that we animals play is a winner.

Lets bungle in the jungle --- well, thats all right by me.
Im a tiger when I want love,
But Im a snake if we disagree.

The rivers are full of crocodile nasties
And he who made kittens put snakes in the grass.
Hes a lover of life but a player of pawns ---
Yes, the king on his sunset lies waiting for dawn
To light up his jungle
As play is resumed.
The monkeys seem willing to strike up the tune.

May your Friday be sweetened with singing cats....

The foofer and the nuzzler...

I am sure you know exactly what I am saying. August is our foofer. He foofs when he does not want to come in the house, and Ollie, is our nuzzler. He likes to nuzzle for some minutes before he gets himself to bed. I am sharing all of this for no particular reason, only because last night there was a lot of both going on, and unrelated to foofing and nuzzling, I decided to post a fuzzy and dark clip of Ollie Bird grooming.  This is very soothing.

In fact it was so soothing that August fell asleep as he was looking from his own room.

And finally, today's selection is from Ollie bird!  Don't know what goes on in his little red furry head but he chose this reading.

One group is in religious convictions devout
Another is full of uncertainty and doubt
Then appeared a messenger from without
"You've both got it wrong; you've both lost out."

Wishing all a majestic Thursday embellished with cat kisses.  Ciao!

Two cats waiting...

We were sure it was going to be weary and wordless, this Wednesday of ours. No sounds to be heard and no critters in sight!?!

Oh oh...an unsuspecting dove has landed across the street.
Ollie who is very competitive thinks this is a game but soon realizes there is a dove out there,
which he must have.
And, there goes the dove.  'Patience, Mr Puffy Pants', I tell Ollie.
And this is what two cats in waiting look like.

We return, eat yummy tuna, and say this prayer:

O mon seigneur !

(O my Lord!  Make Thy beauty to be my food, and Thy presence my drink, and Thy pleasure my hope, and praise of Thee my action, and remembrance of Thee my companion, and the power of Thy sovereignty my succorer, and Thy habitation my home, and my dwelling-place the seat Thou hast sanctified from the limitations imposed upon them who are shut out as by a veil from Thee.  Thou art, verily, the Almighty, the All-Glorious, the Most Powerful.)

And if case you were wondering, OUI!, the cat boys pray in French!

Sending all little cat kisses!

A fruitful day...

A later than usual walk down the street,

mommy found the two cat boys motionless under this bush. If you try hard you will see Ollie bird on the left, Gussy Gus on the right and there is a little pesky squirrel in the center field. He cannot get away this time,

so his buddy from the adjacent tree tries to create a distraction.

August really does not want to leave but I urge him to give up the little squirt. I think climbing is a better exercise than staring at a squeaky squirrel.

So we have a little cat and squirrel going here while Ollie remains in the first bush. He holds a grudge for as long as possible.

August thinks that it is not too dignified to play this game for too long so he talks to me,

and apparently, Ollie could not agree more. 'Enough is enough', they say.

Time to head back home because we have readings to read, num nums to eat, and later on we will nap.

Strain every nerve to acquire both inner and outer perfections, for the fruit of the human tree hath ever been and will ever be perfections both within and without. It is not desirable that a man be left without knowledge or skills, for he is then but a barren tree. Then, so much as capacity and capability allow, ye needs must deck the tree of being with fruits such as knowledge, wisdom, spiritual perception and eloquent speech.

And while the fruits of human tree are knowledge, skills, and perfections, for the already knowledgeable, skillful, and perfect cats, the fruits of interest are birds and squirrels, little mousies and other treats.

Wishing all a fruitful day, and many cat kisses,

Ciao!

Monday of Perfections...

A busy weekend did not leave much time for mommy to create a cat diary but boys were entirely relieved. Between me and the paparazzi there is little peace for these boys and I have noticed that they try to wear glasses and hats to go incognito. So I will share only two pictures from this past weekend.

Augustus, the babe!

Ollie Bird, the nuzzler!

And as for our meditative reading, August selected a passage from an essay called "The Tablet to August Forel". (You DID notice that August shares the same name as Dr Forel.)
"As to the attributes and perfections such as will, knowledge, power and other ancient attributes that we ascribe to that Divine Reality, these are the signs that reflect the existence of beings in the visible plane and not the absolute perfections of the Divine Essence that cannot be comprehended. For instance, as we consider created things we observe infinite perfections, and the created things being in the utmost regularity and perfection we infer that the Ancient Power on whom dependeth the existence of these beings, cannot be ignorant; thus we say He is All-Knowing. It is certain that it is not impotent, it must be then All-Powerful; it is not poor, it must be All-Possessing; it is not non-existent, it must be Ever-Living. The purpose is to show that these attributes and perfections that we recount for that Universal Reality are only in order to deny imperfections, rather than to assert the perfections that the human mind can conceive. Thus we say His attributes are unknowable.
In fine, that Universal Reality with all its qualities and attributes that we recount is holy and exalted above all minds and understandings. As we, however, reflect with broad minds upon this infinite universe, we observe that motion without a motive force, and an effect without a cause are both impossible; that every being hath come to exist under numerous influences and continually undergoeth reaction. These influences, too, are formed under the action of still other influences. For instance, plants grow and flourish through the outpourings of vernal showers, whilst the cloud itself is formed under various other agencies and these agencies in their turn are reacted upon by still other agencies. For example, plants and animals grow and develop under the influence of what the philosophers of our day designate as hydrogen and oxygen and are reacted upon by the effects of these two elements; and these in turn are formed under still other influences. The same can be said of other beings whether they affect other things or be affected. Such process of causation goes on, and to maintain that this process goes on indefinitely is manifestly absurd. Thus such a chain of causation must of necessity lead eventually to Him who is the Ever-Living, the All-Powerful, who is Self-Dependent and the Ultimate Cause. This Universal Reality cannot be sensed, it cannot be seen. It must be so of necessity, for it is All-Embracing, not circumscribed, and such attributes qualify the effect and not the cause.
And as we reflect, we observe that man is like unto a tiny organism contained within a fruit; this fruit hath developed out of the blossom, the blossom hath grown out of the tree, the tree is sustained by the sap, and the sap formed out of earth and water. How then can this tiny organism comprehend the nature of the garden, conceive of the gardener and comprehend his being? That is manifestly impossible. Should that organism understand and reflect, it would observe that this garden, this tree, this blossom, this fruit would in no wise have come to exist by themselves in such order and perfection. Similarly the wise and reflecting soul will know of a certainty that this infinite universe with all its grandeur and perfect order could not have come to exist by itself."

You may think this passage was too long for the cats but this was not so. I had their attention for a long time although I don't know what they were exactly thinking.

Wishing all cat kisses and secret cat stares this Monday in the month of AUGUST!
